Who is The Cornish Eclectic?

Alright m’andsomes?! I’m Steve, a proud Cornishman who is obsessed with drawing, painting and carving (I also do a little bit of music and writing).

I used to draw cartoons all the time when I was a kid and then (i’m sure this story has been told a thousand times) I was told by my art teacher that “CARTOONS ARE NOT ART AND ARE JUST SILLY!!” And so, for years and years, I didn’t really draw anything.

Around 20 years later (oh teachers! If only you knew how deeply your words can scar!!) I bought a sketchbook and some pencils and started drawing again. Very quickly I fell back in love with it and have pretty much drawn/sketched/doodled everyday since.

As you can see from this webpage, I really love drawing cartoons of monsters, aliens, weird people and strange creatures. I love looking at and creating art that is striking, simple, low-fi and graphic.

I generally draw for the fun of it and to illustrate my writing but I am also available for hire and would love to hear from you if you need any illustrations, cartoons, character design, packaging design (I would LOVE to design some beer labels!) or anything else that you feel my art would look good on.
